Joakim Frostegård

Hi, I'm Joakim. Nice to meet you!

I am a research assistant in Olga Perski's research group, working on the Time Matters project, which aims to develop just-in-time adaptive interventions for addictions. Previously, I worked in Agneta Herlitz' group, focusing on investigating psychological sex differences and occupational sorting. Additionally, I have a long-standing involvement as a software developer in John Axelsson's group.

I hold a M.Sc. in Psychology (Psykologexamen) from Karolinska Institutet.

Open source software projects

I am the author of a few prominent open source projects. OctaSine is a digital audio synthetizer (virtual instrument) utilizing frequency modulation. It was featured in the KVR Audio One Synth Challenge and has been downloaded almost 20,000 times since its first release in 2021. aquatic is a high-performance BitTorrent tracker implementation. Since early 2022, it has served around 100 000 requests a second, around the clock, for one of its users.

Music

In 2026, I released the electronic music album Solglitter, drawing on Swedish summer and nature.
